Daily Workplace Stories
I was a background actor in New York for a couple months. At the time, I didn’t really know what a background actor was or did, but after meeting someone at Central Park one day who told me that I could probably get immediate work through an agency, I decided to check it out. It turns out background acting (and I think acting in general) involves a lot of standing around, sometimes for several hours without breaks. The amount of time, effort, and planning that goes into creating TV shows, movies, and commercials is astounding. The experience made me have a lot of respect for those in the industry; especially for those who aren't getting rich — they seem to be pursuing acting for the love of it.
